A CANDLE'S WICK- WIP
A Candle’s Wick is an experimental animated short that was made in 2023 as part of my Design Project. This film aims to paint a portrait of my mother, and her ordinary acts of love, courage and sacrifice.
process
My process with this film began with a fair amount of research regarding menopause, depression and their linkages. I then moved on to the interview stage after which I created several drafts of audio cuts to determine the flow of the narrative.

INTERVIEWS
Over the span of a week, I spoke to my family about their journey with my mother's depression and other aspects of their relationship. The conversations were open, raw and honest. At the end of this process, I had around 4 hours of footage.
collecting, converting old footage
I went through several photo albums and old CD’s with hours of never seen before footage.
Cutting the final track
The track was cut from 4 hours to 20 minutes and with the help of my guide, Shilpa Das, the final 8 minute track was complete. This was followed by animation and sound design.
